1. How did we meet?
We met through a reputable dating website (Match) back in 2008, and had our first date at The Millfield Beefeater, Nether Poppleton, York, where we first met face to face over coffee...and cake!
2. What was the moment you knew he was the one?
(Mandy) To be honest, there were lots, but when he had the confidence (that I didn’t have) to encourage me to step out of my comfort zone and do the things I’ve always wanted to do and supported me every step of the way, i.e. jump out of a plane!
(Matt) The fact she loved my motorbikes and took me to the MotoGP 😊
3. Do you have a favourite memory of a time you shared together?
We have lots, but our first holiday abroad to the Hilton Hotel in Egypt, post conflict, gave us the pool to ourselves, and some amazing scuba diving together...with literally no other tourists in the resort!
4. What is it about your partner that makes you smile?
(Matt) She acts the fool better than I can...
(Mandy) To the outside world he’s Mr B, but I know how daft he is behind the façade.
5. What was most important to you when designing your engagement ring?
Quality, individuality, and the ability to work alongside the designer in order to create such a unique, bespoke piece of jewellery that was so personal to us as a couple, and was in keeping with the planned trip to New York, ‘The Manhattan’ was created!
5. How did you propose?
She was on bended knee at the foot of the Statue of Liberty, with a small crowd from around the world watching on, cheering and clapping.
5. What are the dreams you share together for the future?
Honeymoon in South Africa 2022, to move to Nidderdale 2023, and add to our family with a Doberman dog (she’s not allowed a cat!) then before we get too old, travel around the world and learn more about other countries and cultures, and EAT, we love food!
